The purpose of parks is no more confined to recreation purposes only. Slowly they have also began to house the 'community halls' where people can come together and organise programmes, celebrate festivals, etc. The parks have also seen organisation of the various programmes such as 'Padwa Pahat', common celebrations of Kojagiri Poornima, laughter clubs etc. But with the change in time parks have also donned new looks. They now have been incorporated in the townships.
Landscaped gardens, club house, gymnasiums and walkways and jogging tracks are the latest additions to the concept of parks which cater to the requirements of select people - especially townships. Not limiting to this, the visionaries of the city have also incorporated the sensory garden for visually impaired citizens.
Over all the parks that were meant for the kids to enjoy are now a major source of the recreation for the citizens and community programmes as well. |

Since ages, human moods of leisure, pleasure, recreation, exercise and enjoyment have been linked to venting their energies, excitement and enthusiasm out in the open. But as urbanisation encroached upon this space, the need to confine these activities to an area was felt and thus the number of parks in the city began to increase. But this idea further provided a chance to focus on the recreational activities and thus it became a perfect place today for children to play, health conscious crowds to have a good walk and all the grannys and grandpas to add spoonful of happiness, enthusiasm and freshness in their own lives!!!
Nashik is known to be the city of parks, thanks to the large number of parks the city has for its citizens. Whether it is a small fenced area with a few swings and see¬saws, or bigger, greener and better devel- oped parks with benches to relax; and gradually well-equipped, well-landscaped ones with loads of new toys, jogging tracks, greenery, all kinds of colourful flora and a breeze of fresh air!!
The parks served as the best alternative for the kids to come together, hop, exert and play thus inspiring the values of community living as well as for sportsmanship. Big and prominent parks including Ramdas Park, Kulkarni Garden, Nehru Garden, Pramod Mahajan Udyan (relatively new one) and Somani Garden near Muktidham to name a few have seen generations playing here. |
